Match the physical device to the list

Check volume names, device details, and available space in Media Manager. If several SSDs look alike, compare their physical labels with the names on screen to confirm the selected device.

Check the drive’s role and current job history along with its volume name when deciding which drive is a source or backup.

Organize roles and notes

Gaffer Label lets you organize identifying names, roles, and notes for media. Use terms your team understands to distinguish source cards, main copies, additional backups, and handoff drives.

Labels such as HOLD and DO NOT FORMAT communicate a decision made on set. Check the actual copy and verification results before changing a status label.

Before disconnecting

Check that copying, verification, and scanning on the device have finished, then eject it safely. Source cards are protected against access and ejection while Clone Sync prepares to start, runs, or remains paused. Pause alone does not permit disconnection; check the job status and whether the app allows ejection.

Check the result of changes to a drive’s name, Finder tags, and icon separately. One successful change does not mean every setting changed together.
